The crazy guy from Gambia is back in The Gambia!!!

Taxonomy upgrade extras:

First of all a big excuse that I let you guys wait so long without updating my column. And the bad news is that I got nothing to excuse myself for not writing. Just the lazy bit of me which I intend to disassociate myself from. I however want you to know that I came back in one whole piece, and I had to do a lot of talking about my impressions of Europe and the Europeans. Yeah, I told them quite a lot!!! But not everything.

FAF Gambia welcomed me back home, as did my family and friends, and they all appreciated very much the successful exchange visit that was organized for me. We had some fruitful discussions about the way forward. Right now we’re to embark on a project geared toward helping a nursery school nearby as an approach to representing FAF as a charitable club. We will be trying some of the methodologies which in our opinion may be good and can be practicable here. I learnt a lot from Rolf and the others while I was there. More to come later.

Crazy goes to Barcelona

Taxonomy upgrade extras:

It was quite warm in Barcelona. My good old pal, Bob Pedro, was right there to pick me up. We took the train to meet his lovely wife, Leslsy, who was waiting for us at home. Rice and Honduran stew ready to be served. Probably due to my long relation with Bob, but largely due to Lesley herself, I felt very much relaxed. That Saturday evening, we met a close Gambian friend of mine in one of the famous pedestrian streets in Barcelona. This friend and I had shared the same compound, the very compound where we hosted some dieweltreisenden guys (Rolf, Roland, Uwei and Christiani) in 2005. The streets were overflowing with tourist from all corners of the world, and there were many different kinds of entertainment. The next two days were pretty crowded; Bob wanted me to see so many places of interest in just three days.

Tower takes Crazy to TV Tower

Taxonomy upgrade extras:

The visit to the TV tower in Stuttgart was very spectacular for me. The view from the 150m height was really, really nice. We had already been to the wind mill on Thursday 5th July, another impressive structure that is used to generate energy. Tower was particularly happy to show me this mill and before that, two solar panel installations. He said they provide free energy and that helps to reduce the pollution of the environment.

Tower, Lia and I made our first stop at the home of his parents. We had an evening meal together, and his sister joined us later for a chat. She, like few other Germans, surprised me a lot. I had to ask if she already knew me before, and that I would be there with her parents.

crazy is leaving

Taxonomy upgrade extras:

Today is Wednesday, 04 July 2007 and in few hours I’ll be saying goodbye to Maulbronn, and I can’t help feeling sad because I’m going to miss so many nice people. I really enjoyed my stay and tours in the cities. The long awaited “Afrika Night” was held last Saturday night. Slide pictures of Sierra Leone in 1994 were shown first, when FAF Germany and FAF Sierra Leone met in Freetown and stayed for two weeks at a nearby village Robathlol, with less than ten houses, where we had our FAF plantation. This was followed by formalities in which I was honoured with an Honorary Membership Certificate to FAF Maulbronn, and presentation of gifts from FAF Gambia to FAF Maulbronn.
